With many years in the business under our belts, we’ve some lash trends come and go. One of the growing trends we have noticed in the last while is in our clientele—we find that we are providing our services for people from all walks of life. In the past, the majority of our clients were women who were serious about make up and often applied false lashes daily as part of their beauty routine.

Now, we see people young and old who simply want to experience the feeling of beauty and joy that comes from lash extensions. There is no “one type” of client anymore, we help people from every kind of background we can think of. And we see it again and again, people getting a boost of confidence when they see themselves in the mirror after their lashes are applied.

Since we are offering our services to such a diverse crowd of people, we have a wide range of requests—long, full, dramatic, natural-looking, and everything in between. And what we have found is that most people aren’t quite sure exactly what they are asking for.

“Can I have a full set?”

It’s a question we hear often, especially as people are becoming more daring with their lash looks… but what does “a full set” really mean?

A full set can actually vary in the exact number of lashes used — it depends on the number of natural lashes a person has to work with. Lash extensions are adhered to individual lashes, so a “full set” really differs from person to person.

On average, people can have anywhere between 90 to 150 lashes per eye on the upper lid and between 70 and 80 smaller lashes on the lower lash line. During our years doing this work, we have encountered people with lashes well above and well below these averages, but the number of lashes you have will determine the number of extensions you can carry.

A full set or unlimited set means that basically each lash will have an extension applied to it. You can see then, why the number of lashes in a full set will vary from person to person.

A partial set or half set is a great place to start if it is your first time. A partial set can be applied strategically so that they achieve a desired effect. They can be applied so they are thicker at the outer edges, creating a dramatic cat eye effect, or thicker in the middle to make more of a doll eyed look.

If you are getting lashes for the first time, an experienced lash technician will walk you through the process before they begin. If you come in saying you want a full set, you might actually want to start with a partial set and then work your way up.
But don’t be shy! Lash extensions are amazing on anyone and everyone. Even if you think you have thin lashes, you’ll be surprised at what an experienced lash technician (like us!) can do—you will walk away feeling like you’ve never felt before.
